Here is a very preliminary version of GNAT Studio [2026.2a](https://sourceforge.net/projects/gnuada/files/GNAT_GPL%20Mac%20OS%20X/2026-ventura/) as a stand alone app for macOS.

**NEW:**
The GNATStudio launcher looks for a gnatstudio\_launcher.rc file which support environment variables with the standard syntax VAR.action=VALUE with action is (append, prepend, set, unset, ifnotset), see exemple shipped in the archive.

See readme for details.

**Limitation:**
Ada Language Server has some latencies and doesn’t respond when parsing source code with more 1000 lines. It may be due to some compilation options I missed.

There could be some other limitations that you might meet.
Feel free to report them here.
Any help will be really appreciated to fix these limitations.

I had troubles making it run from the .app directly (double click or through the apps menu). It opens correcly if started directly with : `~/Applications/GNATStudio.app/Contents/MacOS/gnatstudio_launcher`

So changed the default launcher with that, and then locally signed it:
`/usr/libexec/PlistBuddy -c "Set :CFBundleExecutable gnatstudio_launcher" ~/Applications/GNATStudio.app/Contents/Info.plist`
`codesign --force --deep --sign - \~/Applications/GNATStudio.app`

Works perfectly now. Thanks for this package 🙏
Much better development with GNATStudio than VSCode.

Thanks for reporting.

Normally, the Info.plist file shipped in the application already contains CFBundleExecutable set to gnatstudio\_launcher.

Concerning signing, have you try and select Open contextual menu? On the first time, a popup will ask you if you really want to open it, acknowledge then the app will open normally with double click.

I redownload and tried again, so I can report exactly what I got (and you were right about plist, so no need to change it there):

- Double clicking or opening with contextual menu (Open), tells me: `Finder is not authorized to open (null)`
- Opening with `open -a $HOME/Applications/GNATStudio.app` gives : `\_LSOpenURLsWithCompletionHandler() failed for the application /Users/xxx/Applications/GNATStudio.app with error -54.`
- This works without any issues: `$HOME/Applications/GNATStudio.app/Contents/MacOS/gnatstudio_launcher`

Double clicking and open works fine after signing with codesign: `codesign --force --deep --sign - ~/Applications/GNATStudio.app`
Without it, it doesn’t start from the icon in my computer (I am running macOS 27 beta).
