I and atleast some others have had the wrong impression that Jean Ichbiah didn’t have a huge amount of help after the monumental competition (80 review teams and nearly 400 volunteers) resulting in choosing the Green language but this seems wrong.
Excerpt from “Software Engineering with Ada” - Grady Booch
"In May 1979 the HOLWG announced the Green language as the winner of the design competition. The primary author of the Green language was Jean Ichbiah from France. Other members of the design team included
J. Heliard, O. Roubine, and J. Abrial, also of France; P. N. Hilfinger and H. F. Ledgard of the United States; J. G. P. Barnes, B. A. Wichmann, M. Woodger, and R. Firth from the United Kingdom; and B. Krieg-Bruckner from West Germany. In addition, the Reference Manual for the Ada Programming Language recognizes several other individuals who provided significant contributions to the language design, namely, E. Morel and G. Ferran of France; J. B. Goodenough, M. W. Davis, L. MacLaren, I. R. Nassi, S. A. Schuman, and S. L. Vestal of the United States; and I. C. Pyle from the United Kingdom."
