PSA: Cleaning up "The GNU Ada compiler on sourceforge"

At some point in the past, Jeffrey Creem, Martin Krischik, Simon Wright (RIP) and I seem to have become admins on this project at sourceforge: The GNU Ada compiler download | SourceForge.net

Recently we were notified that the project is terribly over its limit of 5GB (using 23.9GB) and at rick for indiscriminate file removal. While we are in the process of downloading backups - LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keeps Stuff Safe  ), I figured that it was a good opportunity to remind folks of some of the artifacts (going back to 2002) as there have recently been messages with interest in older releases in this forum.

We have been asked (politely) to reduce the usage within 14 days before “Sourceforge Support and Operations” begins to take action, so once we have backup archives, that is likely our schedule for removing some files.

Thanks for giving this warning.

“Internet forgets nothing” is a big lie.

Hello Karl,
I used to release GNAT Studio port for macOS there.
Should I find other location?
Pascal.

AdaForge.org will host MacOS and FreeBsd GNAT build and install binairies.

Repository hosted by GitLab.com

I don’t think that you should be concerned about releasing your macOS port there, but I do think that you could consider AdaForge.org (as well?). My (eventual) expectation is that we will continue to host whatever current release we can fit within the constraints of the 5GB limit.

Coming up on the two week grace period provided by SourceForge, I have backed up everything (glad to take suggestions on replacement repositories if anybody has some) and plan to begin removing files (likely starting with the oldest first) over the next couple days to get below the 5GB limitation.

I have made a full copy using rsync. Is there a way I can upload them?
