Stop seeing posts by a user

Is there a setting that will stop the forum showing me posts by a particularly annoying user?

  1. Go to your profile.
  2. Select “Preferences”.
  3. Select “Users”.
  4. Add the user to your “Ignored” list.

Now that you’ve mentioned it, think i’ll be doing the same. It’s starting to feel like trolling at this point.

Why not just admonish then ban that person ?
It’s likely his/her behavior is generally abusive/not abiding by the code of ethics, rather than just you or you disliking.

But I’m not a moderator.

Do you want to be a mod?

Tangentially related to this, I’m writing newbie Ada documentation on Troubleshooters.Com. In this documentation, should I recommend using https://forum.ada-lang.io/ , or would this result in too many random newbs who haven’t read or don’t follow How To Ask Questions The Smart Way ( How To Ask Questions The Smart Way)?

Thanks,

Steve

Having learnt to police myself, I would like to help if possible.

i’ve found that piece way too long for practical purposes; my experience suggests that the sort of people who will read all that are more likely to be more thoughtful about their approach to posting in the first place.

i tend to point people to https://idownvotedbecau.se/, which immediately provides a high-level overview of common problems, with links to succinct descriptions of each. There’s also Simon Tatham’s “How to Report Bugs Effectively”.
